This is a map of my life — where each tiny box represents a single week I’ve lived or will (hopefully) live. All the boxes together represent 100 Years.
I first came across this idea through Gina Trapani’s blog, who made her own version. She got it from Wait But Why’s now-classic post on Your Life in Weeks. The code she adapted came from Buster Benson, who built his own version over at busterbenson.com.
Seeing it like this — week by week, square by square — is both frightening and inspiring. It hits hard. You suddenly feel the weight of time, but also the opportunities you still have.
I believe everyone should take a moment to look at their life this way, not out of fear, but to remember that we only get so many squares.
That’s why I built the tool below. You can enter your birthday and add events and periods. It’s not finished yet, but I couldn’t wait to post it. I hope it is an inspiring visualisation for you.
