I started this blog to improve my writing and share knowledge with others. Although my academic writing has not improved much through the blog, I’ve become better at explaining concepts in simple words and writing in a way that captures attention.
Writing about the master’s courses in risk analysis has also helped me stay motivated to study. Writing a summary for yourself is less motivating than writing one for the whole class. It also helps me stay focused; cutting corners or delivering late is not an option if it’s for the whole world to see.
I am stopping with the ‘weekly ‘ series.
I started the ‘weekly’ series to get into the habit of writing and posting every week. It mostly helped me come up with ideas for what to write about. If you know you must publish something at the end of the week; you will be more sensitive to potential topics.
It has served its purpose now. I plan on writing about evergreen topics and stating which week they’re from, which doesn’t add anything for you, the reader.
Norge er ikke skapt for å sitte på ræva
The end of the weekly series doesn’t mean I will be posting less—I plan on posting more! I plan to hike here in Rogland weekly and write a blog post about it. I find UT.no quite confusing from time to time. It’s also hard to understand the descriptions if you are not fluent in Norwegian.
By posting about hikes in the area in English, I hope to inspire everybody to go outside a bit more. I will add pictures and post the .GPX file of the route so you can do the hike on your own. Norway isn’t made to sit on your butt!
