Risk and Safety Conferences in Europe: Q2 and Q3 2026

Here is a quick overview of the main European risk and safety conferences coming up before autumn. There is something here for practitioners, researchers, and students.

SRA-E Benelux — Dessel, Belgium — 21 April A one-day event at the Tabloo visitor centre, focused on risk and safety in the context of digitalisation, the green transition, and emerging technologies including AI and small modular nuclear reactors. A good option if you are in the Benelux area and want a smaller, more focused setting.

SRA-E 2026 — Alicante, Spain — 26–29 May The annual conference of the Society for Risk Analysis Europe, this year at the University of Alicante. The theme is Advancing Risk Science for a Safer and Fairer Future, with emphasis on inclusive governance and risk methodology. Worth attending if your work sits at the intersection of risk science and policy.

Beredskapskonferansen — Stavanger, Norway — 2–4 June Norway’s main emergency preparedness and societal security conference, organised by Havtil, OFFB, Forbundet Styrke, and Kystverket. This year’s programme covers the national total defence effort, offshore and onshore emergency preparedness, and the SAR helicopter accident outside Øygarden in 2024. Running alongside it is Informasjonssikkerhetskonferansen, and a single ticket gets you into both. Relevant and local if you work anywhere in the Norwegian petroleum or emergency management sector.

Infosecurity Europe — London, UK — 2–4 June Europe’s largest cybersecurity gathering, at ExCeL London. Attendance is free for qualified practitioners. The 2026 programme covers ransomware, post-quantum cryptography, AI risk, and cloud security. Broad and trade-show heavy, but the speaker quality is generally solid and the networking value is hard to match at that price point.

ESREL 2026 — Braga, Portugal — 14–19 June The flagship annual event from the European Safety and Reliability Association, this year at the University of Minho. The main academic conference for risk assessment, reliability engineering, and safety management in Europe. ESRA offers funding support for PhD and master’s students to attend.
